DTEK became the first Ukrainian company to enter the coal markets in Africa and South America ![]() DTEK Trading concluded contracts to supply anthracite to Brazil and Ethiopia. The Company plans to strengthen its position in these new markets.
DTEK Trading entered into a contract for coal supplies to Brazilian iron and steel plants belonging to the largest regional steel company, Gerdau. DTEK will deliver 50,000 tons of anthracite to South American ports by the end of this year. The Company is currently negotiating terms for cooperation with Brazilian partners in 2013. DTEK previously supplied anthracite coal to Brazil for Usiminas, Value, and ArcelorMittal; this new contract expands the company's presence in the South American country.
“DTEK became the first Ukrainian company to enter the coal markets in Africa and South America, where there is considerable demand for high quality anthracite coal,” said Andrey Favorov, Commercial Director of DTEK. “The export potential to the African market is at least 300,000 tons of anthracite.
